5/30/09 - Grafton Cemetery, Rockville, Utah - Grafton Ghost Town
The town of Grafton was settled in 1859 and after numerous floods its last residents left in the 1940s. Several standing buildings and a gated cemetery remain.
Grafton was the location in at least three movies, including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman in 1969.
This site is mantained by the local Grafton Heritage Partnership Project.
I like how the rock formations in the background mirror the tombstones. It is eerily desolate inside the graveyard though. Totally flat and rather barren. I can't decide if it looks better like that or overgown and neglected. I think it almost looks 'clinical'?
